If at first you don't succeed, read some more and ask more questions.
About Yourself:
One tank is never enough.
Fish Kept:
Pair of blue rams, 8 x rummynose tetras, 5 x emperor tetras, 6 corydoras trilineatus.
Corals/Plants:
Various crypts, hygrophilia, blyxa japonica, java fern, anubias, various aponogetons, red tiger lotus, giant and thin valisneria.
Tank Size:
20 gallons
Advice:
Go easy on the lighting in your set up unless you want an algae tank. When you feel the need for 'just one more fish', be strong and say no. Get to know the people at your local fish shops and spend your dollar there, not Walmart etc.
Description:
I've tried to go for a south american theme - fish wise anyway. There is a piece of bogwood running left to right, crypts at the front and vallis at the back.

First, do no harm.
About Yourself:
I used to have a great aquarium similar to this (not nearly as heavily planted as this one, but a few live plants) some 20 years ago. Gave it away in a move and regretted it. Finally got a new one and love it. I don't even turn on the TV in the evenings any more.
Fish Kept:
Zebra Danios, Neon Tetras, Tiger Barbs and Swordtails.
Corals/Plants:
Echindodourus Subalatus; Egeria Densa; Eleocharis Acicularis; Java Fern; Echinodorus Red Rubin; Nymphea Stellata; Marisilea Quadrifolia; Ludwigia Repens; Moneywort; Myriophyllum Aquaticum (Green); Rotala sp. Nanjenshan; Anubius Barteri Var Angustifolia; Hemianthus Micrathemodes and a couple of others.
Tank Size:
28 gallons
Advice:
Start out with a good substrate to avoid a cloudy, messy addition later on. Then get as many different kinds of plants as you can.

About Yourself:
I have loved fish all my life, I also have a koi pond. I don't feel like myself unless I have water near me...this aquarium is about 4 feet from my desk in my office. I am a tax accountant and this keeps me sane.
Fish Kept:
1 Ghost knife,14 Rainbow (bosemani, turquoise, irian red, madagasgar and a few more),4 tiger barbs, gouramis(2 pearl and 2 opaline), 9 neon tetras,1 crosstail betta, 1 fiddler crab, clam and a singapore flower shrimp.
Corals/Plants:
Ambulia, coffefolia, myrio, bacopa, tiger lotus, ludiwigia, java moss, echinodorus,
riccia, pennywort, anubis nana, water sprite.
Tank Size:
55 gallons
Advice:
If you don't find it relaxing don't start this. To me it's like a tranquilizer. Planted aquariums need frequent water changes and trimming of plants. It's like taking care of a backyard but in 4 ft of space. Time consuming and I love every second.
