Advice:
Platys will quickly overpopulate your aquarium, best to keep a few small predators with them if you want to prevent this. If you choose to have any Red Tailed or Rainbow Sharks it is best to keep just one. Smaller schooling fish like Tetras and Barbs do better if you stock five or more of each type. This is a low tech set up for living room viewing.

Been in and out of fresh water aquarium hobby. This time able to do a lot of research thru websites. Read "Ecology of the Planted Aquarium" by Diana Walstad. Recommend last chapter 'Practical Aquarium Setup and Maintenance.
