About Yourself:
A senior citizen, retired teacher, animal and plant lover. Love to quilt, write children's books; play guitar. Had a 55 gallon tank when first married 48 Years ago. Love learning and sharing what I've learned to help people and encourage them.
Fish Kept:
Albino Buenos Aires Tetra, Red Minor Serpae Tetra, Black Skirt Tetra, White Skirt Tetra, Black Neon Tetra, Congo Tetra, Columbian Tetra, Neon Tetra, True Rummynose Tetra, Black Sailfin Molly, Emerald Green Cory Cat, Peppered Cory Cat, Sailfin Pleco (L-83), Gold Pristella Tetra
Corals/Plants:
All plastic plants. FISH NOT LISTED IN SITE'S LIST: Red Lamp-eyed Tetra, Concho Tetras, Redtail Glass Tetras, Ember neon tetras, 1 Pygmy Gourami, Spiny Nerite Snails, various Shrimp.
Tank Size:
29 gallons
Advice:
Water change regularly (25-30%); feeding less is better; test for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates, but know the general parameters of you tap water (hardness & softness). NEVER wash out the grid inside your filter. Tap it on side of sink. You can wash the sponge part of the filter, but it doesn't need to be spotless. This helps maintain good bacteria in the tank. Don't give up if a fish dies. They only live so long. They are like the bottom leaves on a plant that die, need to be removed in order for new life to grow.
