Fish Kept:
1 Male Betta, 2 Balloon Mollies, 2 Sunset Platies, 1 Hifin Pleco
Corals/Plants:
artificial plants, natural driftwood, natural rock
Tank Size:
10 gallons
Advice:
Don't be afraid to put a Betta with other fish, as long as they got enough space and don't have any big shiny fins that the Betta could mistake for a male of his own species. Also, making sure that the smaller community fish are in groups helps to avoid confrontations with the betta.
Description:
This is our first fish tank.
It's a 10 gallon freshwater tank, holding 1 betta (shown in front), 2 balloon mollies, 2 sunset platies, and one pleco (and they all *do* get along very well).
Will probably upgrade to a bigger tank once the pleco grows.
Decorations are mostly artificial...some natural driftwood, and natural rock on the left.

About Yourself:
I am still in school and right now I do not have a job which makes it hard to keep the aquarium up and running, but I get through ok.
Fish Kept:
Right Now I have one Flying Fox. I also Have Two Blue mystery snails. But they just made babys... lots of babys.
Corals/Plants:
I would like to have real plants but right now I have fake plants.
Tank Size:
55 gallons
Advice:
Have good lighting for your fish and plants. Always have the top of your aquarium covered for fish tend to sometimes jump. Always get the best possible filtration system for your tank for it pays off afterwards.
Description:
55 Gallon aquarium with all fake decorations and rock gravel.
Please tell me if this is good decor or should I get driftwood?

Fish Kept:
4 X-Ray Tetra
4 Guppies
3 Neon Tetra
Corals/Plants:
No live plants, just 8 nice looking fake plants and two of three fake coral decorations. We also put an octopus and seahorse decorations and two reef tunnels. There's also a large "Deep Sea Diver with Treasure Chest" bubbler decoration. (Our kids call him the "Cyclops")
Tank Size:
10 gallons
Advice:
We're new to this so don't know much advice per se. One thing we learned is that, at least with the X-Ray Tetra fish, if you put them temporarily into a bowl of some sort, be sure to cover it as they will JUMP OUT! We had to rescue some that had hopped right out!

About Yourself:
Fish Kept:
3 Bala sharks, 1 bristlenose, 1 clown pleco, 6 emerald Rasboras, 6 platies.
Corals/Plants:
none
Tank Size:
110 gallons
Advice:
Always get everything BIGGER than what you think you might expect to use. Make sure the oxygen is always 100% max as possible in the tank; and keep great water quality - do changes weekly or bi-weekly, vac the gravel, dont pollute the water, remove excess particles, and don't overfeed (its surprisingly easy to do so) . Maintenance of the fish environment is an important factor to your success. A few simple things done well. Learn from your mistakes. Here's another tip...the top 10% of people in their field NEVER stop learning (never become impressed with how well you have done). Same with fish keeping - its a delicate environment in there.

You get what you pay for!
About Yourself:
Ive always enjoyed fish and underwater life. It may require some dedication and time, but it is well worth it. Aquariums are very calming, relaxing, and they bring any room to life.
Fish Kept:
3 Tangs; 1 Gourami; 1 Bala Shark; 1 Dojo Loach; 1 Catfish; 1 Rubberlip Sucker
Corals/Plants:
Artificial plants (they arent near as messy, live plants shed and tend to clog filters and filter media, a fair warning)
Tank Size:
20 gallons
Advice:
Research before you buy. Fish aren't mix and match. Start with a big aquarium, not a small one. Shop at different stores to build the best aquarium, one store probably won't have everything. Mine has parts from 3 different stores. The only filter that is too big is the one that won't fit on your tank. Feed varities of food to fish.
