Always ask lots of questions at your local fish store as when facing problems they would of most likely dealt with before and have the cure at hand ,
If starting out , choose a nice hardy type of fish ie cichlids, to many fish die due inexperience

Advice:
i like variety in my fish tanks. lots of different fish, rocks plants. i dont like the look at the same thing twice in one tank. I also think you should keep things natural. down with plastics, fake plants and chemicals.
