I have this tank set between 82-84 degrees (F. Everyone is happy and spawning. Cardinals, C. sterbai and discus like the warmer water, the shrimp are fairly adaptable, and harlequins are happy around 82 degrees. Good luck with the discus! They are a great fish, full of character! You shouldn't have trouble with the higher temperatures, so long as you increase the temperature gradually. Just keep an eye on the fish, as warmer water carries less oxygen - if you need to, you could temporarily add an airstone (or permanently, if you don't have plants and add CO2).

I have a question for you since I have similar fish (rasboras, cory sterbai, cherry shrimp, cardinal and glow light tetras), and wanted to add Discus. But what temperature do you set the tank at so that it's warm enough for the Discus but not baking the others?! I read the highest to go for rasboras/tetras/corys would be 77 but that the Discus really need 79 or preferably higher. Please help!
