I was given a few chiclids by a buddy for the aquarium I just set up. He gave me three cichlids, an electric blue, and electric yellow and what he calls a leopard. I've tried to learn a little more about these fish and was able to find ample information on the blue and yellow cichlid but cannot find anything on the "leopard". I believe this is an improper name. I'll try my best to grab a picture of him(her?) shortly. He's a little bigger than the other two although I believe he is about the same age. He has a pale dirty olive coloring to him with darker brown "leopard" spots all over his body. That's how I believe he became known as a leopard cichlid. Does anyone know anything about this fish or know a cichlid that matches this description.

this may help you, it sounds like a typical venustus cichlid. could even be a nimbochromis livingstonii cichlid, those are about the only two that i can think of that would have leopard type spots on them. hope this helps
