Thank you. I have several larger tanks with a similar plant set up. There's really nothing complicated about this
system of filtration. If you can remove the ammonia before the bacteria can use it to produce nitrite and nitrate, then there will be no nitrate in the tank water and nitrate build up is the main reason for changing the tank water.

The best way to have no water change tank is to not to have tank at all.
Plants can help to keep tank clean but it's not the filter system and can't remove all waste and poop , besides it's way long time to dissolve waste in water ,I'm talking about months maybe years . Good way to pet maggots (waste worms) .
What about clean , clear no smell water ? No way you can do with no water change .
I agree distilled water can stay for long and not to go bad, but it have nothing for fish to survive .
With no bacteria in the tank you gonna need to change 100% water every week .

I have to agree with elena.
There's a reason why everyone does water changes even though it can be a pain, time consuming and even costly.
