Planted tank substrate
Not very experienced with planted tanks - what kind of substrate should I be using?

Smaller gravel works well. The larger type of gravel or pebbles don't work as well I don't think. Small gravel is just easier to work with when you're planting the plants and such.

Everyone has their preferences. I think mine is sand just because it looks really aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It also can be easier to clean, easy to plant in, and roots grow well in it. But like I said, everyone has their preferences. I'm sure some would argue gravel is better.

I think flourite black sand is probably best for planted tanks because of the high CEC in it.
