Need Help

by tauntonboi

Hi everyone. I took down my freshwater tanks (55&40) because I moved. I am going to try to setup 55g Reef Tank, but I have no experience with Saltwater tanks. I have constantly read on many articles, but would like input from others. The input I am looking for deals around filtration, skimmers, lightingg, pump, and anything else. My 55g is glasss, not drilled. Thinking of DIY or buying overflow to go to 20g sump.
My ideal picture of my tank contains.. Yellow Tang, 1-2 True Percula Clowns. A nice Bubble Anemone for the clown, and eventually easier to care for coorals and anemone.
If you could help with insight on equipment, setup, or anything else it would be greatly appreciated. I just dont want to have to spend money that I could have saved in the long run.

Any factor build 55 or 40 breeder is capable of a saltwater tank. One gallon of freshwater weighs 8.35lbs per gallon and saltwater weighs 8.55lbs per gallon. That difference will not matter.

joyce123- have you had problems with it falling? have you had problems with it blocking powerheads? have you had problems with it blocking filters? have you had it climb out of the tank? have you had it walk next to another coral and kill it? have you had it eat another fish? have you had it die because of lack of light?

these are all problems that could happen to one. You probly have very good lighting and good water.

I might try a
anemone some day ( when my tank gets mature )

Clowns do better with an anemones. They are less stressed out with one. Place to hide and play.
I put one into my tank after it was running 4 months in.
No problems.
