I'm using a rena xp3 stage filter and I'm really not sure if I have it set up in the most efficient way.
the piece is a long cylindrical plastic thing with holes in it that shoots water out when attached to the filter. I'm presuming that it should be used as a current mechanism? But right now I have it situated horizontaly instead of verticaly toward the sand, so there isn't much of a current.
Plus I've had like 4 fish die, 3 platties and my rainbow shark I've had for awhile and I don't know why. Had the water checked at my local fish store and they said my water was perfect. Sucks.

I have my filter situated horizontal (plastic thingy with holes) and most fish tanks I've seen are horizontal fixed so, I would assume you have it set-up right.
How often do you change your water? Another thing to check is the tubes themselves. Make sure they're clear of any type of debris. Sorry I can't help ya more.
