55g Lighting?

by sapperdaddy

Ok i have a couple questions on lighting ideals, First of all i have a 55g tank bought from wal-mart, it has the standard 2 18' floro strips on top. question is how can i upgrade my lighting with out spending a fourtune? is there any fixtures that would fit in the slots were the standard lights sit? Or would a upgrade to 10000k bulbs be the best option? to upgrade my lighting would i have to buy new hoods? please any links or advice would be great.

I have a 55 gallon tank and I bought a 4' long Coralife Aqualight 4x65 watt Compact Fluorescent on Ebay for $134. New they are $300. You can't use a hood of any kind with this type of lighting system, it isn't designed for it. The light I got is considered a pretty nice light, look it up and see what you think. I bought the legs for it so it sits just above my tank. Looks good. Actually, there's a picture of my tank in my profile, but you can't see the light too well. I wasn't trying to photograph the light....lol.
