I have a 55 freshwater and I'll soon be starting a 36 salt. I was wondering where everyone gets there porous rocks from and what are the best kinds. Low cost solutions would be appreciated. I have posted some example pics.

Thanks for any help!!!

Most peeple get rock from the LFS. Some that you show is live rock from a LFS. I get rock from the gravel supply places.

many LFS more specialized in fish carry lace rock which is just a decor/hiding rock and live rock...rock with saltwater bacterial colonies that meet the needs of a SW tank...for this I would consult the salt forum... not really sure what you meant by porous but I'd assume it was one of the two. They can help you with price quotes, etc.

My backyard!!!!!!!! I'll usually scrub them down with a brush (no soap/bleach) just good'ol water and let them sit in a bucket for a couple of days. Then, before I put them in the tank I'll make sure to boil them for and hour or two to kill any bacteria. It might not be the exact type of rock that your'e looking for but, the best partis that......it's free!!!!!!! The cheapest way to do it!

yeah man, check out your local lfs. See if you can join a reef club. Check out TheReeftank.com and look towards the bottom for a local club. You will be glad you did.
