Hey guys,
I'm planning out my nano reef tank for my office and I'll probably order this week. I'm still torn between the JBJ HQI 28 gal and the Red Sea Max 34 gal. What would you guys get?
JBJ HQI 28 Gal or a Red Sea Max 34 gal?

I'd say go with the 34g, more room, sleeker looking(IMO), and the water will be a tad bit more stable. I like both tanks, but would choose the 34 for my setup.

I'm leaning towards the Red Sea Max as well, but do you think the lights are strong enough? The JBJ HQI has MH with 150 watts for 28 gallons. The Red Sea has 110 watts and are T-5 PC I think. Everything looks better on the Red Sea Max except for the lighting. However, the JBJ HQI has had problems with overheating the tank and I'd have to buy a chiller which is another $350.
Do you think I'll be limited to the corals I could keep in the Red Sea?

I am not an expert and I have never kept coral. However, I have read about it. The are some corals that require MH ighting. I don't think you will be severly limited though. The red sea max has great lighting for many types of corals. I woul go for the red sea max. I have been told by every LFS in Vegas that it is the Cadillac of nano reef systems...and it is one sweet set up!

I'm looking at the black RSM 130D because it has some upgrade to it. I've looked online and they're going for $850. The older ones are going for $799. They are pretty expensive, but I like the fact that it has everything in it. With baby #2 on the way I don't have the time to try and design and build a tank. I ran into the same thing... Honey I'm thinking about dropping lets say another $1500 on a fish tank for my office..haha We'll see as long is am bringing in the bones for the family.
Thanks guys
