thanks alot man, its my fav coral in both of my tanks and when i seen 1ratings with 0 points i was like...sheeeit. i bet the raters tank looks like doo doo. anyway, i actually was going to make a post about the colors in this brain, when i got it, it was like a dark deep purple/blue and there was no green except for the eyes, now the purple has faded slightly and the green is starting to morph out, heres the b4 and after pics, any ideas? i assume its because of the lighting

From coral to coral, it really depends. Color changes are almost always a combination of light intensity and duration.

I have seen SPS richen up in color from more intense light and others bleach. It's a balancing act. LPS are no different. I had a Lobo that was a nice rich purple that lightened up over 4 months of being under 500w of MH light which I was wrongly running for 12 hours per day.

I currently run intense grow light for no more than 6.5 hours per day.

see, im using the sunpod MH for 10 hrs a day, i should def cut back the hours? your sps seems extremely healthy with its 6.5 per day, do u use other light during the day other than the MH?

Definitely cut back on the hours. The only other lights on the main display are 2 X 54w Geisemann T5 Aqaublue + bulbs which are mostly for viewing pleasure and run 8.5 hours per day. They come on 1 hour before the halides and stay on 1 hour after.

Also, the pics on my profile are old and were taken when I used to run the halides for 12 hours. Coral color and growth have been intense since I cut back.
