ok so I am getting pretty close to starting on a new house build {major remodel actually} we are doubling the size of a small house and adding a finished attic. That being said, I have plans for a large room divider tank to seperate the entryway and the living room....... what i would like to do is put drilled overflows in each end and drop everything through the floor and set up a tank room downstairs in the basement with all my filtration, nurse tanks, RO system, test equipment, coral prop tanks etc etc. I have cats and they drive me ape shit getting hair on everything and knocking things over, so i want a room dedicated and secure just for my babies...............now the problem comes in returning the water to the tank............i don't have a hard measurment but I'm estemating that i will need to push water 10 -12 feet..........that seems like a pretty stout head to overcome. do i need to maybe look into swimming pool pumps or well pumps so i don't continuously melt aquarium pumps or are there dependable aquarium pumps out there that push that kind of pressure????
this is going to be minimum of 150 gallon up to 400 gallon depending on the build budget
the reason for overflows on the ends is so i can leave both sides open for viewing from the entry and livingroom......other wise i'd put 2 overflows in the back and just face the tank into the living room {which may happen anyway depending on the wifes input on a see through wall}
thanks

how far is to far?????
