why not 2 ? the only way u can quite 1 hole is put a gate/ball valve on the end of the standpipe, slowly turn untill quite. the water level has to be higher then bulk head, also did you put a tee in the back to vent air ?

sorry i was not done,1 hole is scary..you should have added a second hole for emergency. if i where you i would put somthing over part of the overflow box, so snails dont get in there.if one blocks the ball valve or even the hole you are asking for trouble..did you drill your tank,or pay someone?

the tank was bought with the hole in it all ready i couldent tern the deal down $150 for a old school 75 (the tank is heavyer than my 90) drilled and with a acrilyc sump. the hole is in the bottom fo the tank so i dident think an air pipe would be nessisery.

you think putting the bio balls back into the sump would be a good idea with a 2 inch sand bottom in the tank i wasent shour because i have herd that to much bio filtering can cause more harm then good (iv never yoused a sump before lol)

nice setup..if you remove the bioballs try adding a pipefrom the 90,down under the water level of the sump, you wont get the splashing noise..does the pipe gurgle ?
