Thoughts on These?

by Tmercier834747

These are the rams I've been talking about in my 30 gallon community. Sorry the videos are a bit long but I was waiting for a specific behavior I didn't get from them.
As a natural law after concretely saying I thought they were both male, I'm not so sure now.

The behavior I speak of is the male (clearly more colorful and fins extended throughout the video) was caressing the "other" and ''displaying'' yesterday, also being much more aggressive (for the fist time in the 3 weeks I've owned him) toward the other tankmates rather than the other ram. More specifically the celebes rainbows. Needless to say he only really showed a very small taste of his aggressive side in the beginning of the second video.

Either he's gay and bipolar or I was wrong..I'm hoping the second is right...

And yes this is shameless tank promotion, as well.

J/w if anyone thinks the other one (which has shown not nearly as much color as it was in the first couple weeks, and is clearly being ''dominated' is female, as I had only recently assumed not...

I wish it were possible for everyone to pick the option of high res videos instead of just the owner. They look so much worse on youtube and weren't great to begin with. lol

Wish I could help you. I don't know about the German Rams.

I do know that in Bolivians, you can tell the male because the tip of the dorsal (the end by the tail) is longer and pointer in a male, plus they have thin filaments extensions on their tails, and the ventral fins (the underside ones) are much longer. Over all they tend to be bigger and longer and females tend to be stockier. Both male and females can be aggressive, but my female has always differed to the male unless she is in spawning mood.

Here's some of my old video. For some reason everytime I try to upload a good video from my sons camera it gives me an error.
In this one the male is all puffed up courting the female. There are others on there too.

Heh cute. I just visited another forum and some guy had a picture of a mating pair of GBRs that he owns up. They looked freaking identical and he wasn't shy to point that out. How reassuring. I guess only time will tell what I have here...
