The mag 7 will work. Heck, a mag 5 would work as well. Lemme guess, the LFS didn't have a 9.5 or 12 in stock?
You can't keep dust out of a tank. Fish only tend to jump out when they are new to the tank. You can use gutter gaurd or egg crate to prevent jumpers from jumping during their acclimation.
I prefer an open top with fans giving greater evaporation and gas exchange.

also, how many fish do you think i could put in it? i have decided on 2 or 3 tangs and a pair of leopard wrasses. do you think thats all i could have or could i put in 1 or 2 more smaller fish? i dont want the tangs having to fight for territory

My LFS has 18 fish in a 45g display tank but they are very tiny gobies. You could put a bunch more teeny tiny fish in the 90. I'd say 1 maybe 2 of the smaller Tangs though. Maybe a yellow and a scopas or a Tomini or a Purple.

I have a rio 1700 on a 29 gallon.....more flow the better. Dont skimp. :) you could always run two.....one blowing one way one blowing another......and then you could rid the need of a power head......Bigger overflow bigger pumps, and less crap in the tank. :) when i say crap, I mean equipment.

ive decided on:
1x Court Jester Goby
1x Yellow Coris Wrasse
1x Blue Hippo Tang
1x Flame Angel
1x Purple Tang
1x Leopard Wrasse Bipartitus
1x Leopard Wrasse Megalaris
maybe i`ll switch a few of the smaller fish as i go along but generally this is what im going for. you guys see any problems? (bioload, aggression?)
also, im thinking of getting two seio 1500's for powerheads. is this enough flow for a 90 gallon.? keep in mind that sps corals will eventually go in it

I have 2 Seio 15's in my 75 and my SPS are all still frags and small colonies. I am going to have to install 1 or 2 modded maxijets soon.
You shouldn't have any agression issues until the Hippo and the Purple get grown. Add the Leopard Wrasses before the Coris . I'd suggest against the angel due to this being a reef but if you must have one and push the odds, add the Angel last.
Have you seen the Potter's Leopard Wrasse(Geofroyi)? http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm ... cleid=1919
