Tonight before feeding I had a stroke when i looked over at the tank and saw my large hermit crab {Sabastian} burowing into a piece of live rock............i'm not talking about a little scratchy scratch - -he was both claws in almost an inch deep and the cloud comming from him looked like smoke - -completley clouded up the tank in about 3 minutes..............so i dropped some pellets in and he jumped right down and started eating them .................anyone ever seen this? and is the pulverized live rock ok in there?? im worried about a PH change or something
silly crab...........lol
Boss
WTF is my crab doing??????

Yeah it looked pretty crazy. I told him he was probably smoking his cigar.
Now theres a hole about the size of a dime in his live rock.

lol...yeah he seems to ........especially about and hour after i feed the clowns, he's running back and forth at the front of the tank with his shell banging the glass "tap, tap, tap tap" as if to say "hey I didn't get enough of them pellets buddy" AND I swear he watches TV with us at night ..................after he runs back and forth for a while it'll get quiet and I look over and hes sitting at the front over towards the corner chillin looking right in the direction of the tv, we shut the tv off and in a few minutes he's off doing something else......lol
interstingly enough, he lost his anemone a while back and it was stuck to the front of the glass, just out of his reach. I moved a piece of liverock so he could get up close to it and with in 10 minutes he had it peeled off the glass and back on his shell..................keep in mind that the nem was on the glass out of reach for at least 2 weeks........stupid animals right???? {SARCASM} and now he seems to be acting better, he was all stressed out about not having the nem, he'd sit under it, tr to climb the glass, not eat for a day or two at a time, switch shells back and forth sometimes a couple times a day...................................................Crabs are a trip man

I have never seen one do anything that crazy before but I haven't had any crabs in my tank for a long time. I caught 2 Emerald's eating polyps from a Pocillipora and Stylophora SPS corals and they were quickly escorted out and never to return.
