thats what it is boss, its halogen track lighting. i got it done last night and i have to say, they are hot as hell. im gonna try to find some glass colored lenses. the light itself is like a yellow spectrum, it looks like someone pissed in my tank, but im hoping its the light.lol i think making your own light fixture is alot better than buying a setup, i like to have things my way. i think the next fixture i make is gonna be a metal halide

very cool.........i ve been looking at MH parts and pieces......Gumbii has posted some good links about DIY lighting............he is the DIY king, lol
As far as the track lights looking like piss..............could it be the spectrum they are putting out? i'm assumeing they are going to be down in the 4000K range right?..............if you can find blue lenses that should make the light look whiter
I do like the idea of being able to aim the lights where ever you want to though

no coral in the tank. i have two columbine shark catfishes, they eat damn near everything in the tank.i have the fish and a very lg hermit crab, the crab also tears the tank apart. the light is nice though, i wanna see the effects it will have on the coraline algea
