Favorite Plants?

by spraky1413

With so many different aquatic plants out there, I'm having a hard time planning the plants for my 55 gal im getting within a month or so.

Suggestions/comments?

Anubias-is-my-favorite.......It-comes-in-leaf-sizes-ranging-from-the-Bartari-(up-to-6-inches)-to-Nana-(down-to-dime-sized)......It'-has-thick-dark-green-round-to-football-shaped-leaves-and-can-be-either-planted-(any-gravel-will-work)-or-it-can-be-tied-to-wood-where-it-will-grow-beautiful-thick-roots-that-grow-down-around-the-wood-and-take-nutrients-straight-from-the-water.

I-like-the-Nana-to-grow-in-the-front-of-the-wood-or-bigger-plants,-and-the-Bartari-to-grow-in-the-back-tied-to-wood.

Anubias-needs-very-little-light-and-is-easy-to-grow.......Hands-down-it's-my-favorite........PK

I would have to agree with pk in the fact that nana is about the easiest plant to grow, in low light situations, lilies will do well, also red indian swords will do well in lower light situations, to add a little bit of contrast to the green from the other plants i also find corkscrew vale easy to grow, try those types of plants before spending tons of money on high light, high co2 needing plants.

Yea,-Java-moss-is-also-one-of-my-favorites.......It-looks-good-if-you-get-it-started-on-wood-by-tying-it-on-first-and-then-letting-it-go.......Somtimes-it-needs-a-little-pruning,-and-some-fish-are-really-good-with-this,.....or-you-can-tear-off-the-longer-stuff-when-it-gets-long........It's-versitile-and-will-grow-as-a-free-floating-clump-and-some-people-have-had-it-grow-as-ground-cover-if-atatched-to-a-screen.......Good-stuff,-and-also-needs-very-little-light-to-thrive......Like-Anubias-any-little-light-will-make-it-grow.

If-you-go-to-Petco-and-see-the-"moss-balls"-they-have.....they're-not-truly-moss-balls....They're-Java-moss-wrapped-around-a-plastic-ball.....At-least-the-things-wrapped-around-a-ball.......that's-Java-moss.

I wonder if it would be possible to train the java moss on a screen across the back of the tank to sort of look like a green wall...hm...
