Halides?
I was looking at getting some metal halides for my 29 gallon reef tank. The only problem is theres only one fixture that I can find that is 30" in length. Does anyone have any ideas or lights that im overlooking. I would like to get something with moonlights as well.....my 2x65 coralife has them and my corals love them. and so do my fish.

what website? i have a 37 that is 30 in and have been looking for a fixture for a while and have found a couple, but the brace in the center of the tank will probably cast a shadow. so i was thinking of getting two k-2 viper lights and getting a small actinic strip light. i dont think its going to look as good as a fixture but i havent found anything better.

build a custom hood and hide everything under it.....could even build in some cooling fans....29 gallon tank might heat up with a good MH light on it...i've thought about one for my 20 long but at 12 inches deep im afraid of heat and or major hot spots.................Boss

look into T5 HO, i upgraded to T5 from my pc's and the result was amazing, my coralline algae starting spreading like craaazy, things seem to grow very fast under the T5's, my star polyps and my pulsing xenia grew surprizingly fast to about twice there size within a week or 2. great results! i highly recomend them. although nothing beats the shimmer that the halides provide, you only have a 29 gallon tank, and i bet it has a plastic brace in the center? and that 30" halide has one bulb and it is directly in the center of the fixture, you will have a shadow in the center of your tank if it has that plastic brace. also, it could melt
