Fungus on driftwood
Is fungus dangerous? How do I remove it and keep it from coming back?

Hello dusky...
No. Fungus isn't a bad thing. Its an organism that develops when uneaten foods fall into cracks or crevices in driftwood or other tank decorations. I don't know of any aquarium fish that will eat it, but Ramshorn snails will. You can generally get this kind of snail at the local pet store when you buy plants there. Many times the snail eggs are laid on the plants. This species of snail will remove the fungus in no time.
Keep your tank water clean with large and frequent water changes and you'll have no tank problems.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear that it's not harmful and that ramshorn snails will remove it. It seemed like such a hassle to take the driftwood out and clean it somehow. I'll get some ramshorns and maybe up the water changes in case that's an issue. I didn't think there was uneaten food around but maybe it's just tiny unnoticeable pieces.
