What were your reasons for deciding to have a saltwater tank?

For me, I got bit by the bug when I was younger and saw saltwater tanks on display. The fish were unlike anything I'd ever seen before, it was inspiring! I knew I wanted to have fish like that myself, and so I read as much as I could about them. Then, when I had the money, I got a smaller tank and the rest is history!

I haven't - yet - but I'm wondering how you even get into salt, too. Do you have to do tons of research first? All I ever hear about saltwater tanks is how difficult and complex they are but maybe that's just hype.
