One of my plants has brown spots I have no idea what kind of plant it is I got it from petco about a month or so ago the other one is growing fine though

Could the brown spots be brown diatoms or algae? Does the plant look fine other than the spots?

It could be a deficiency in which case substrate tablets and water column fertilizers could help.
