Critter keeper for an aquarium

by fish123

Would it be possible to use a critter keeper as a small aquarium for aquatic animals? E.g. small fish, african dwarf frogs or snails?

I imagine so, if it's big enough for whatever you're going to put in it and I'd check the durability of the container also. Some brands of those things are so cheap and liable to crack.

You may be better off getting a cheap acrylic tank instead. But I don't know, never used a critter keeper before. If it's for fry/quarantine I probably would. But I don't know if I would want one for a long term display tank. I figure it could get damaged pretty quickly if you aren't careful picking it up for water changes.

I've got my mole cricket in a critter keeper (or similar - think it's a exo terra cricket pen). It's got a lot of moist substrate in it which makes it heavy so I'm careful to pick it up from the bottom, not the sides.

I imagine a large one (5 gallons?) would be fine for an african dwarf frog or some small snails though.
