Crushed Coral - would you use it?
I always thought crushed coral was one of the best substrates to use in saltwater tanks but now I'm hearing that there's controversy surrounding it? Is it something you would use and if not would substrate do you prefer?

No. From what I understand, crushed coral causes an accumulation of debris that you can't ever fully remove so it can really mess with the nitrates and things in the water, which has a bad effect on all the living inhabitants in the tank.

Wow, I didn't know this. This is good to know for future marine tanks - and I'm glad I found out *before* I went and put pounds and pounds of crushed coral in my tank. That would be a pain to remove.
