I've never had a planted tank, so don;t take this word for word but wouldn't sand be bad because nothing gets through it because its so fine, wouldn't the plants not get enough nutrients?

Sand is not bad for a planted tank *LOL*
I have sand in mine and the plants grow beautifully in it. I do have under the plain sand layer a layer of sand/JBL AquaBasis for the plant roots. But all together the both layers are sand consistancy

Thank you alasse your plants are so beautiful. Is there any special requirements for type of sand ,additives,co2, and how hard is it to clean with gravle vac will it suck the sand up
