all right I have decided to declare total war on this algea. I am slowly taking money from the paycheck and hording it. I would like a list of invert that will eat hair algea.

I know but I want hobbiest with experience rather then a company that would do anything to get my money.

Cut back on your lighting and quit feeding so much processed food like flake food. Flake food is preserved with phosphates. You also need more herbivores. Try getting several snails like astraea and nassarius snails. Usually the general rule is one snail per gallon. Do you have any? Did the couple days with no light not help at all? Are you using a protein skimmer? Are you using RO or RO/DI water? If you really want to go all out, get a phosban reactor.

I cut lighting to 9 hours. It turns on at 6:30 and turns off at 9:00 am and turns back on at 3:30 and turns off at 9:00 pm.
I feed mysis shrimp not flakes
I dont have any snails besides 2 of those snail that burry themself. I forgot their name....
The days without light didnt help. I actually made it worse. Red Slime started growing during that.
I dont have the protien skimmer but I do plan it some time.
Im using RO water from LFS.

One thing you could do with the frozen cube food is put it in a fish net and thaw it under running water from your sink. These also have phosphate preservatives. This way you will rinse them off and only have the meat left over. I have 2 skimmers for sale for maybe $10 each but i'm not sure if they would fit in the back of your tank. I think they make a special kind that fits somewhere back there. Nassarius snails are probably what you have. They mainly eat left over food. You should get some astraea snails too. These guys are the herbivores.

I have a oceanic biocube and so I can only use oceanic biocube skimmer.
Ill try the frozen cube thing.

Might be able to get one for under $30... looks like they are usually $40 but i know people who say consistent water changes in a nano really eliminates the need for a skimmer. I like what mine does tho.
