Sorry, i should have explained for those that missed the first post. This is a 55 gallon tank that i set up in my office at a jr. high school. The photo didn't work in the first post.

Mr, you are probably right. I know it is generally considered to be more asthetically pleasing to keep the water line at or above the edge of the tank. For various reasons, i prefer my tanks water line to be below the edge and visible. However, considering this is a public tank, not one of my private ones, i should probably do what OTHER people like, instead of just what I like (damn it!)!

Red Tiger Lilly, which I think you had in another one of your tanks Natalie, would look nice with a lower water level. You'll be able to see the tops of the pads, and the bottoms, which I think are really cool.
How about another peice of drift wood that sticks up into the tank more? You could grow java moss on it. Just an idea!
Looks nice and natural to me and I think it's a great thing to have in a class room.

Yep, viewing floating plants is one reason i like to keep my water level lower. I have NOT ever done tiger lilly though. Is it pretty undemanding?
Now that you mention it, a really big piece of driftwood would look awesome. Unfortunately, money is a consideration and i think i've about exhausted my fish budget for this year, but i'll definitely keep that in mind for future expenditures. Thanks!
