so first off sorry about dropping off the face of the earth for a really long time but im getting married and full time job not much time to surf the internet anymore but i have a question

what would or why would my ricordias, montiporas, and torches all be doing great pretty much every other coral be doing great but my zoanthids are slowly dieing. well more like die off really fast and start recovering now slowly

I've had this happen before. My first coral was this patch of zoos and it turned from about 15 polyps to 50 polyps of growth and then came the decay. They actually are still around but never recovered or reproduce. I'm down to about 20 and they are real small but still around. I even have other zoos doing ok.

My friend.....you probably have aeloid nudibranchs. They look like the zoanthid that they are eating...they can be gotton rid of.....but the coral must be treated in a seperate tank. So rock HAS to be removed and closely inspected. My favorite remedy is Two little fishies coral REVIVE. Its a coral cleaner....but a solid minute in this stuff and most of the nudibranchs are dead in there tracks. Its potent stuff! You also have to check for eggs...or all your work is useless. Heres some links. Good luck, and start inspecting your rocks and inside your zoanthids....

I've had success just giving them a dip in freshwater. I found 3 or 4 nudis and never saw them again although, i have read they are a real pain to get rid of. That was not my experience though. If you see them on the zoo you can use tweezers to get them too.

well thanks for all the info guys im going to have to look at my rock my only follow up is that some zoas are doing great and others are not so would it still be a nudi

If it were nudis, you would see little spider looking things crawling into the center holes of your zoos. The polyps close up too. Are your polyps closed?
