Silver Dollar feeding

by ollyt86

Hi Everyone,

I have 5 fully grown ( I think ) silver dollars and have read on on various websites that they need abundant vegetable matter as part of their diet, which I have never fed them. Yesterday I did a water change and thought I would treat them today by puttin in some vegetables ( cucumber in holder ) but none of them seem vagely interested, any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Olly

Try feeding romaine lettuce leaves... my fish go crazy for it. Organic is better if you can find it.

Ditto on the romaine lettus. You could also try frozen peas--thaw them out and remove the skins.

I have fully grown silver dollars and i actually buy this green algae (they sell it in petsmart) and i have one of those food clips on my tank so i just attach a piece of algae to that and not only does my silver dollar love it but all my other fish do too. If you don't want to try that you could also try giving them dark leafy greens like spinach or romaine lettuce. Sometimes they eat bottom feeder algae wafers too. Hope that helps
