Sorry I've been gone so long Boss. Ya, my son just went back to mom's in New Mexico. We built a radio controled sailboat, learned some lessons about taking things apart and not being able to put them back together (a R/C helliocopter) and did a lot of swimming. Things are getting better with me........ kind of isolated for a while. Blah blah blah...... Gars are doing very well. They're actually swimming around like crazy for some reason now. They seem to know when it gets dark out even when their lights are still on. ??? I have one big female and two smaller males, which is the ideal social arangement supposedly. It's fun to watch the bigger male following her around and sniffing at her vent.
I haven't forgotten about somday visiting up your way. My folks in Ithaca both have lyme disease and my dad's on an IV antibiotics. They're plenty healthy so I'm not too worried. I'm not going to promise any dates to come to the area yet. We'll see. Nice to see the old die hards are still here. Gumbii's still obsesseed I see.......He should see where I'm working right now!!!!! Ha ha ha.......

HEY PK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LTNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad to have ya back bud! I am here on and off again, am about to make a huge change, selling the 125 gallon planted tank. <sad face> just got home this morning from Denver. Flew out for an interview, and I think I landed the job! Nice increase in pay, for less work than what I do right now. Once I get out there if everything goes semi-according to plan (i never say according to plan because then stuff goes wrong) I am going to get my Law Degree, and move on and upward. Might even settle in Denver Permanently until We retire. It's too big of a move to take the tank, am selling the ferrets too. <another sad face> We are going to consolidate everything down to the barest of essentials for the move. Although the good thing is that we will be able to travel to the west coast once in awhile for mini vacations. I hope all is well in your world!

Thanks for the greetings guys. I don't think I'll be getting into almost every thread anymore.
And I won't congraduate you yet and jinx the prospect Brandon, but it sounds like a great thing. Good luck.
What happened to Gumbii? I guess he's busy.
My big female gar has pretty much stopped growing at 18 inches and has a deep and narrow body so I believe there's no problem with organ crowding, which can be a problem I've heard with fish that slow or stop their growth to fit their environment. I also feed them a lot of low mass freeze dried krill which they like but doesn't fill them up too fast too.
The set up is such that there's paths behind the plants, caves big enough for them to hang out, and areas of current for them to play and pivot.
They seem quite happy so I'm not worried about not having the 300 gallon for them yet.

i am mexican there fore i am IGNORANT!!!!!!...
lol...
some pets are objects and i'm not the only one that thinks this way... ask your LFS what they think feeder goldfish are...
another thing... if you think of a pet in any other way than just a pet you are ignorant... we are human beings... not anything lower or anything close to equal to a pet... if we get attachments to a fish, dog, horse or a cave scorpian... that is a huge human nature that we have programed in... i just choose to ignore it...
