Can anyone identify this houseplant I'm killing? My mom bought it for me and it was really vibrant...its been a few weeks and I cant seem to make it thrive. Im watering it but not overwatering it and keeping it in indirect sunlight. I tried direct sun light but that made the tips shrivel more. It was all purple on the undersides of the leaves and green and white striped on the top. now its fading. It had more leaves too but they turned brown and i cut them off.
I tried misting it tonight thinking maybe it would like it. Any ideas? I need to know how to save the poor thing. I can make everything else grow besides this.

looks like it comes from a spider plant family, does it send off "babies" or have you not had it long enough for that?
get it some natural sun, not in a window, put it outside if you can for a couple hours and see how it reacts

My son spent $50 one mothers day buying me a sweet Bonzi tree. Well, first off my cats ate most of it within a day! Then I put it outside last summer and it thrived! But I missed a frost one night and it died. :-( I KILLED my sons expensive tree! He still gives me hell over that one LOL.
