I miss that well water from my dad's artesian well. It just constantly flows out of a hose all the time, and that's all I used to use, no conditioner, nothing. I was doing fresh water though.

wait... you guy's actually get well water...??? that must be awesome...
our city says that we get well water, but i still have .75 ppm chlorine, .24 ppm amonia, and 7.7 PH coming out of our tap... i have to use prime... and hopefully when i get my SW tank running it will be enough... but only the test will tell...
you guy's don't know how lucky you are...

Im in brooklyn,NY...I use prime as well. But after reading and reading, your right...only time will tell. If my params are always in check and I notice fish are stressed I will trouble shoot starting with my water supply. I will then invest in an RO/DI unit, but untill then conditioner it is. I guess over the long run the amount of money you spend on prime will eventually equal what an ro unit will cost.

okay ....i'll ask
what's prime?
and yes good well water is a huge blessing - -not just for tanks , good coffee, doesn't tear up the pipes, faucets etc etc - -
