absolutley - - -water evaporates, not salt, not protiens, not waste ............so really all your losing is the good stuff

You should definately do water changes more often than once a month, even in freshwater. I'd say every two weeks is slacking.

I started changing mine every 2 weeks but thats not enough. but it does cut back on the algae etc to a minimum.
