No the intake on the pump is like a half inch from the bottom of the glass. I'm having problems with keeping a constant level in the pump chamber. Any suggestions ? I bought the DIY kit off ebay for $25.00 it camw with all the plexiglass precut for the chambers. The PCV fittings and corners came with the kit too. All together I think I spent like $75.00 building it myself. I think i'm going to leave it where it is, and not build a stand for the sump to sit under the display.

No Snowboss I didn't drill the tank I wish it was currently i'm using the tom's surface skimmer. As far as making the return bigger not really. I'll just have to top off the chamber every now and then.

If you want from the pics I think if you put your return pump iinto a double divider where it originates at the pump, and have on pipe go back to your display tank and the other into the return pump area again, then you will raise the water level in there. you will be Still moving the same water amounts, just putting some back to the same area again.
Just a thought, cause pump may get hot not being submerged.

lionlord,
Your refugium doesn't have to reside in your sump. If you have room next to your tank, you could set up a display refugium like I did for my second refugium. In the pic, you can see where my original refugium is in my 55g sump on the right side which used to house macro algae.
My second refugium tank just had to have it's overflow higher than the top edge of my sump to drain and I used I Maxijet 1200 in the sump to supply the refugium. Even if there is no room around the main tank, maybe you could have it sit on the other side of the wall and cut holes for the pipes.
