Honestly.....I wish I was still using it. My new light is amazing..........BUT its bleaching a few corals.....That light worked perfect besides the fact that i couldnt keep stony corals. no acros........it wasnt enough light. but everything else was game.

explain the bleaching of corals?? oh yea, i think im still looking at the 380 watt fixture on ebay and i ll hang it above my tank to give some room for heat loss, would a mesh covering of some sort be sufficient to keep jumping fish in? i think once i get that light on there the temp will go up more .... cant afford it tho

'Bleaching of your corals is when they get TOO much light. You have to acclimate them slowly. If I throw you out into the mahavy..........your going to be burnt as hell. aka bleaching. SO with something like that 380 watts is a LOT! I looked at the same fixture.......but thats overkill for me. that would be 13 watts to the gallon......aka you would fry the hell outta them. with intense lighting you can put 5 watts to the gallon and hold what you want. intense is metal halide......or VHO. Those are the only two lighting methods strong enough for sps. Some people hold them with an increadible amount of pc light......but my lfs told me its starving them of some of the most important spectrum. Heat is an issue......but can be handled....too much light isnt really bad.......you just have to acclimate your corals to it. which may take a while. My palys are now an egg shell color.........they used to be a dark brown. my zoo colonys used to have a dark brown outter fringe....now its a milky coffee color. I went from 130 watts of pc light to 190 watts of vho light.......not a very big jump......but evidently it was enough. I have the capability to put 300 watts a gallon over it......but theres really no point
