Almost. Your top off water should be clean, some type of filtered water, without any salt or suppliments. When the water vaporate off of your system (normal), the salinity will raise, so you don't wanna put more salt in your system, 'cause that'd raise your salinity high. Don't let too much of water vaporate off, and then suddenly fiil back with filtered water. that colud be a stressful salinity change for your environment. I always top my water once in the morning, and once at night, with small amounts of water. I keep my top off water at room temperature, so I don't yhave to worry about the temperature too much. The small amount I introduce to the tank each time, won't affect the temp. in my main tank.( I use some suppliments in my second cup) Yes, use the buckets and heater when u do your rutin water changes, and set it up the day before. That's when you have to mix the water with salt and additional supplements.Don't worry about airstone, but a small powerhead could be usefull, but still not a must. The powerhead would circulate the water all night, so by the time you get there you have some great crystal clear salt water.
