The thing is in salt water so I thought some salt people might know something about these eels. Is sea water salinity right, or should I lower it to brackish water salinity?

you can't lower it anymore... the drop in PH will kill it...

right now i'm aclimating a mono from fresh to salt... it might take about an hour or more... but once they go to the ocean, they can't return...

Ok. I'm doing the salt thing by taste as I don't have a hydrometer, mmmmmmm actually, maybe I do. I'm comparing to what it was in when I found it.
