Galaxy rasboras?

by Peterkarig3210

I just bought 3 galaxy rasboras for $20 and if they stay alive in my 30 gallon planted I'll be getting more. They're way expensive but beautiful little fish. They're still small and they're in with some pretty big flying fox's so I'm hopeing they do OK.

I put them in the tank about 1/2 hour ago and they're still hiding in the plants somewhere.

They are expensive because they were discovered just recently, and only occurs in 1 known location. They are also already threatened species because of over-collection. So breed them and send me some!

These are captive bred, and they're really cute little fish. They're neon tetra sized and kind of brown gold with little spots all over. I just removed the 2 small breeding tilapia as I think they would have eaten these guys. One rasboa poked it's head out of the plants and the female tilapia which is holding fry chased it back in. I removed the tilapia and put them in a tank I use for extra plants and mosquito fish fry. I guess the fry will be food, but I also want the hair algae in there to get eaten and tilapia are good for that.

$20 for 3, 1 for $7. They're still expensive for how small they are. A school of like 30 would be nice, but what's that, $200? Yikes! Maybe they'll breed. I want to make sure they stay alive before blowing more money on them.

A store in LA, in Sherman Oaks on Ventura blvd. Though the things I've read about them says that they're threatned in the wild apparently they're not too hard to breed so I would immagine the price will go down within a year or so.

Yeah its a good thing rams don't need schools to be happy. $32 for two fish..lol Well then there's that rare zebra pleco that gets about the size of the gold nugget which goes for $150 on liveaquaria.com..

Just stick with a small school of like 10-12, any more than that in the 30gal would probly be unnecessary anyway.

I get along fine with 7 rummynose tetras in my 16gal. For such simple coloring they look effin great. I don't know why they're not more popular.

And those are nice looking rasboras. Kinda like a dark version of a rainbow trout with all the spots and gradient coloring.

I removed all the male mosquito fish today as they chase the females a lot and they were also chasing the rasboras. There's still 6 female mosquito fish and they're continually pregnant so they can't chase my rasboras very well.

If these buggers make it it'll be 3 fish at a time when I get a pay check.

I finally bought some dwarf baby tears too. There's co2 and plenty of light so I'm hopeing it grows well. It's so bright green.

The dwarf hairgrass I left in the rockwool cup and I stuffed it between some large roots on my wood stump so you can't see the cup and it's not dieing but it's also not looking fantastic. Maybe I should plant it directly in the substraight.

I'm going to let the hair grass and baby tears grow in a bit and then see what kind of rating I can get.
