My grandma is dieing and I wonder what the best thing to say to her in her last days. I don't really know her very well and she lives in Australia where I can't go right now. I happen to think there is conciousness after death. I don't know this for sure, but I like how the Tibbetins read the Book of the Dead to the person after they die. The idea is that a unembodied spirit is 7 times less grounded after losing the body. They float around and get attracted to what they karmicly are attatched to, thus in effect choosing their next life. Who knows?

In an online forum people sometimes communicate more openly/honestly/without pretense, etc. for many reasons, but two in particular: 1) we aren't as vulnerable to judgment in this anonymous space, and 2) it is generally easier for people to write down personal feelings/beliefs/disclosures than to say them. I wouldn't have ever guessed that you present the personality you describe, because you don't present that here at all. And LOL, I can be intellectual, I've heard that before, but I can also go all day without uttering an intelligent sentence. LOL Here in the forums, I'm stimulated by the diversity and free expression of thoughts, opinions, and experiences so I'm more likely to "discuss" in this environment than I am in person.

My opinion is that people near death like to know that their life meant something to those they care about, and that they will be remembered. Even if you don't know each other very well, she may still be important and memorable so you can convey that to her. You can also show that her life has been valuable by simply asking her advice on some things.

It seems risky to meet other members of the board in person. LOL Why change the relationship if it's working? It's like a couple that has lived together in harmony for years, they decide to get married and then are divorced in 2 years.
You know, our imaginations automatically fill in missing information about each other whether we are really aware of it or not. And it seems like imagination is often better than reality..... Consider us all meeting, and then being mostly disappointed, what would happen to what we have in the forum? In poker, we'd call that "going all in".
I know, I know. People meet all the time, and it's fine. I'd be agreeable to meeting anyone who came through San Diego. Just thinking out loud, and providing "intellectual" stimulation for grumpy Snowboss. LOL

bah...
you might be wrong... but i fail to see how it's a bad idea... i've been to meets in online car clubs, fish clubs, and just to hang out with friends and shit... as long as you are yourself online, and the people can get a good feeling on what kind of person you are it's pretty fun and confortable...
