Hey Gumbii. How did all your tanks fare with the earthquake? My 100 gallon sloshed back and forth for about 20 seconds and it even moved a bit on the pedistal.

You're a lot closer to the epicenter, I believe, so I was wondering.

Yea. We're all expecting the "big one" that is promised to hit us at any time, and we haven't had much in the way of small shakes in the last 10 years or so, so when we get the shaking most of us are wondering if it's going to be a scary ride down as the buildings colapse around us. They keep saying that we're due for a huge quake that is guaranteed to kill thousands and cause food, water, and the economy to fall apart for a period.

I'm in the middle of a valley that acts like a bowl of pudding. The mountains surounding the valley don't shake as much as the valley, which jiggles a lot, like pudding. My building is made of wood and I'm on the third floor which feels relatively safe for me. It's much better than having slabs of concrete above you!

Yeah, but an earthquake doesn't impale you with a 2x4.

People here are pretty easy going about quakes. I've been in a couple of small-ish ones. I've been at work each time and everybody just stood up and said "Quake!", "Wahooo!".

I just straightened my pictures and went back to work. Zzzzzzzz

Tequila makes the ground move much more.

i've seen myth busters... they say that a tornato can make a piece of grass straw fly thru a palm tree...

i'll be damned if i'm going to get killed by a piece of grass...

the first house i bought in KS was hit by a tornado in 1993, it twisted the house about 5 inches on the foundation - -the people i bought it from said that they were out of town for the day and when they came home they found the house twisted and a couple of the water pipes broke ...............the coffee was still in the coffee pot and pictures still on the walls and the neighbors house {about 200 feet away}was gone ..................the house was still twisted when i bought it, they just made the pipes 5 inches longer and went on with life.................... i could go on and on about tornadoes, i had to go into 2 different towns and secure the gas stations after tornadoes over the years, yeah i believe completely that a piece of grass could kill a person in one..........my thought is that if the wind is blowing hard enough to impale you with a piece of grass..................you probably have already been ripped into little pieces so it doesn't really matter.....lol
