You went to see Fools gold Gumbii?

I think it's an adventure type chick flick. I like Into the Blue pretty much only because Jessica Alba is in it with great shots of her ass under water.

Concerning sailing. The open ocean is pretty intense as the swells are huge and ripping over them is a blast.

I like small boat sailing because it's more intense. Sailing on a large yaht is basically boring unless you are doing other things on board. The only sail boat faster than mine were the Prindles, really nice cats made for racing.

Gumbii. What were the cichlids you were thinking of giving/trading for me? I want somthing that doesn't get too big and has a lot of blue. I think a lot of cichlids are kind of boring looking but I would love blue. Actually I'd like to steal some diskus from the lfs. I'm basically so honest I'll go back to the store if the clerk gives me back too much change, but I'd like to carry a plastic bag with some water in it in my pants and have a net and steal a few nice babies.

What are the rare ones you are breeding? That might be cool to work with if you could part with a couple. My 35 gallon is full of pretty tough plants that seem to deal well with the tilapia's ripping and there are some med sized SAE's and Ottos, as well as a Dojo and about 8 mosquito fish, and some ghost shrimp. I'm figuring that what ever survives the Tilapia will survive Cichlids.

Whatever Cichlids I get can't get bigger than 4 inches and I do plan to move some plants and set up some rocks for them.

That probably won't happen, but I'd like something similar in temperment to a tilapia that is easy to breed and is mostly of one brillient color.

Maybe I should ask this. Where can I buy diskus for a reasonable price? I spent about $35 5 years ago each for a Marlboro, a all blue one, and one of those that look like mother of pearl. They were about 3 inches when I bought them.

Now it seems the same diskus sell for double this price.

That green severum is beautiful. Since thinking about this for a while I'm thinking that I want a few diskus, but the green severum is exceptional. Do cichlids dig holes like tilapia?

How big does the green severum get?

I was also curious as to why those clubs would be upset about giving a non cichlid club member a rare species? Do you guys want to keep the species from being cross bred to any old cichlid or what?

A lot, I'd say most, cichlids look kind of un balanced or strange in shape to me. I like the green severum and I like the look of the tilapia. I get weirded out by animals that are bred to look weird, like those goldfish that have bulging eyes and bolated bellies, and though I've adored some pugs friends of mine had I think it's sad that they have a hard tiome breathing. The gars I have are ancient and are a very tried and true design kind of like sharks.

Question: Is the sex determined at fertilisation, or is it determined when the fish are juviniles? I know that with tilapia I can't tell the sex till they are about 3 inches long. The males develop redish pigmentation on their fins and have bigger mouths than the females.

Let me know about the green severums. A male and a female is what I'd want. If you want to trade somthing I still have some powerheads and plenty of other things as I'm kind of a pack rat.

these tilapia are F1... that means that thier parents were wild... these have really bold stripes...

alot of cichlids aren't bred to be show fish... like teh goldfish... and i told you that these severums get 8" big... but so do discus...

and the reason the professors won't alow me to pass these fish to non-club members is because we don't know what you will do with them... or if you would care for them correctly... if one of these fish die, that is killing an endangered species... so instead of having novice fish collectors getting them, they have us sign papers, contracts and liability wavers... it's a long and expen$ive process...

so no you can't have any of my rare stock of fish... if it dies and it's somehow your fault you will get fined or go to jail...

and you could get some decent STRONG discus at my local LFS for cheap... they start at $15 bucks for 2" and $30 for some larger ones... and they are tank raised in neutral PH and params...

Thanks Gumbii. I wasn't sure which one you mentioned would get that big. I'm not that interested in a rare fish. I want a couple that I like the looks and temperment of. I used to have 3 diskus and they stopped growing at about 5 inches. Two of them laid eggs every few weeks and though it was only a 20 gallon I think they were happy. I had the tank full of plants and rocks for them to hide in.

What I have is a plant and rock filled 35 gallon I think. People freak out when I use a certian term, but I know that fish in aquariums don't grow nearly as big as they would in the wild. I have mosquito fish and they never gey beyond about 2 inches in the tank, and the ones I put in my step fathers pond are almost 4 inches. I wouldn't want to put a fish in a tank that it feels too confined but I think I can provide a good environment for diskus in my 35. What's your feelings on this. I want to be a good fish owner and if the diskus or cichlids stay below 5 inches I think my 35 may do. I'm stuck on this.
